Ebisu Circuit – Thursday with many pictures

Japan – Thursday – Day 4
Today the guys was totally exhausted after spending the whole day at the Ebisu circuit, from early in the morning until closing time.

Both Mikael and Tony tested the car at some of the different tracks availbale at the Ebisu Circuit complex – and it for sure sounded like they enjoyed the day, both of them looking forward to tomorrow.

Unfortunetly (but understandable) they were soo tired when they got back to the hotel so they took the wise descision of going to bed instead of sending a full “day report”, but I´ll update as soon as it´s available. Göran (deltaphoto.se) sent me many photos from today, see below.

Tomorrow is the big day – G1GP – so I hope the guys will get a really good nights sleep and then kick some as tomorrow!

Best regards

G1GP – Wednesday with pictures

Day 3 in Japan – Wednesday

The pictures from today are without any “action” becasue the day started with a well deserved lie-in 😉 Not for so long but still well needed after yesterdays time in the garage when the front wheel hubs was installed/modified. We worked with them until it was pitch dark outside and the only light we had was the one from our headlamp.

After breakfast we made a time plan for the day and then headed to the track. We finished the last work on the wheel hubs, Mikael and Tony was very satisfied with the ammount of steering – looks promising!

We also installed the Ksport Racing hydraulic handbrake.

It gets dark very fast over here and when there was only 30 minutes left on the track for today we speeded up things so that Mikael could at least try the modifications done to the car and everything worked fine!

We aspent some time putting on the team-stickers/partners to achieve the correct “look”, it also adds probably around 10hp with the stickers on 😉

After all its a “racer”, not a ” ebisu missile”, not yet atleast…

When we are talking about “ebisu missiles”, one driver managed to drive over the skidpad and over the “wall of dirt” and down the hill. A crane truck was needed to pull the car back up but when it still looked pretty ok after what it has been through, as far as I could see it was mainly the intercooler/piping that had been damaged.

We finished the day off with a japaneese dinner and ice cold “Asahi”. Everybody was happy with the day and tomorrow we plan to be at the track early in the morning so that Mikael and Tony can start to get familiar with the track and the car.

I am hoping for some good action shots after spending a day at the garage, and Jocke is probably hoping for a day without mechanical troubles so that he can spend the time watching some great drifting instead of laying under the car!

Best regards

Ebisu Circuit, Japan

Japan – Tuesday with pictures

Day 2 in Japan – Tuesday

Finally it was time for everybody to go to Ebisu Circuit and meet up with Andy from Powervehicles, and also to pickup and see the Siliva S13 “IRL” for the first time.

After a short test round and some photos it was time to start and modify the car a little, installing the wheel hub knuckles and Ksport racing hydraulic handbrake that we brought with us from Sweden. Mikael checked the oil and also looked of there was any leaks etc but everything looked fine. It started to rain pretty much so it was not possible to install the stickers onto the car this day.

After the first day being very warm and nice, we were convinced that the weather would be good today also.

At first only a few raindrops hit the windshield, but then it started…Everything from jacket to underpants were soaking wet – nice!

We still managed to drive a few rounds in the rain and the car felt really nice, and WOW what a nice drifting complex this is, Ebisu Circuit is by far the best drifting track we have visited, not that I´m surprised really…

We ended the day at the track by listening to the CD that had been left in the car by the previous owner (yes, the car still has a cd-player), a japaneese “Best Hits”-album, just to get in the right mood. I mean sitting in a drifting car at ebisu circuit in japan listening to japaneese music and eating japaneese fast food from 7-11, what could be better? A dream come true for sure!

During the late afternoon we also received our rental car, as we are living about 10km from the track its very nice to be able to have our own transportation. And also at the track with its many different tracks and steep hills.

Now we need to go to sleep, still jet-lagged and haven´t slept many hours during the last days..

Best regards

Japan – Monday with pictures

Day 1 in Japan – Monday

Finally in Japan!

First thing that happened when arriving in Japan was that Mikael Svensson (driver) did not make it through the passport control. They claimed that his passport was reported stolen by Interpol and they did not want to let him into the country. That’s a good start…

After waiting many hours at the airport they finally let him through the passport control, with help from the Swedish embassy in Tokyo. It probably also helped a little bit when they found the hub knuckles for the S13 in his luggage –“You drifting?” –“Yes!” –“Ahh, very good!”.

Outside the passport control the Swedish drifting driver Tony had been waiting for us to arrive.

Now Mikael had 48 hours before he needed to show the immigration office a temporary passport stamped by the Swedish embassy in Tokyo, so this was first priority. If not being able to do this he would be in pretty big trouble, the immigration officer explained with a smile.

First we needed to visit the “Super Autobacs” store to get some brake fluid for the install of the Ksport Racing hydraulic handbrake. WOW, not used to see so much “jdm goodies” in one store!

Mikael and Tony went to Tokyo and the Swedish embassy while Jocke and Göran went with Andy and Emelie (Powervehicles) to Ebisu Circuit – time to “scout the area”. Amazing track(s)!

Then we all headed back to the hotel for a good nights sleep, well deserved after travelling half way around the world…

Best regards

Framme i Japan!

November 8th, 2010 by admin Categories: Event / Show / Tävlingar, G1GP - Ebisu Circuit Japan 2010, Nyheter / Blogg No Responses

Stay tuned !
